DPD will be closed the following days: Thursday, Dec. 23, Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31.
DPD Fee Changes for 2011
Effective January 1, 2011, there will be a number of changes to DPD’s fee ordinance. Fees have been adjusted to cover the cost of service, including a cost of living adjustment (COLA) to cover 2008 and 2009 (fees have not been adjusted since the beginning of 2008). A new provision was added to allow for monthly billing for land use review, which will help the applicant and staff track permit costs during the review process. This will be phased in over the next year; there are no changes to the land use hourly fees.
Multifamily Code Update
The second public hearing on multifamily lowrise zoning and streamlined design review for townhouses was held on Monday, November 22.

A second Seattle City Council hearing on the proposed South Downtown legislation was held on November 22, 2010.
The Seattle Planning Commission Releases Seattle Transit Communities Report
On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Pyramid Alehouse, the Seattle Planning Commission unveiled its much anticipated report, “Seattle Transit Communities – Integrating Neighborhoods With Transit.”
Revised Ordinance: Updating Seattle’s Multifamily Code – Lowrise
The lowrise portion of the “multifamily code” (MFC) is the part of our Seattle Municipal Code that defines how development can occur in zones focused on higher density residential uses – the rules that apply to building duplexes, townhouses, or apartment buildings.
2009 Technical Codes Take Effect
The new 2009 Seattle technical codes are now in effect as of Nov. 23, 2010.

2009 Technical Codes Availability
The last day to submit permit applications using the 2006 Seattle Codes is November 22. This includes the Building, Residential, Mechanical, Fuel Gas and Existing Buildings codes, as well as the nonresidential portions of the Seattle Energy Code.
We expect the code books to be available in the near future.
POSTPONED: West Seattle Triangle Open House
Seattle DPD is planning an open house event for the West Seattle Triangle Project. The open house will take place on December 2 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the West Seattle Senior Center. All are invited. The open house will present information about the West Seattle Triangle planning project including project outcomes and community process to date.
